Imagine having joycon problems with this.

I don't like the fact that the Lite has a smaller screen, that's one of the reasons why I bought a 3DS XL so I could see my town on ACNL. If I'm going to buy the Switch, I'd rather have the full experience. I hate being out in public so I need to play on the go 😖
I'm hoping they release the normal Switch with special ACNH covers and goodies etc... I'm glad I watched this first before deciding 👍

I don't think you need to worry about the portability of the game, if it's the same as the OG switch, you will not be able to turn it off completely, or there would be a stand by mode. Because given the aspect that the switch lite will be always on stand-by, you will never have to turn off your game. You would be able to pick it up whenever you want.

I'm actually the opposite of you, I travel (globally, locally), I like playing games in bed before I sleep so I definitely wouldn't get up to sit in front of a TV to hook it up and all that and I don't even own a TV, also I don't have friends that play video games, period, so multiplayer on a big screen for me means nothing and I'm a woman with slightly larger hands than the average woman. And actually I don't have an extra 100 dollars to spend on a gaming system rather use that towards getting more games if that's the case. Lastly, I don't have any children, younger siblings (they are all adults) or even younger nieces or nephews so I'll never need to unhook the joy-cons for side-by-side play. I think the Switch lite is a go for me. I played the hell out of my 3ds and even bought the New 3ds cause I broke the hinge on one side of the screen on the old one. Also, I think making games with portability in mind is a good market strategy you can have a base game for a home console yet still have the option to be just as enjoyable on the go.

As an adult, price still matters. The Switch is $400 in my country, the Switch Lite is pre-ordering for $260.

I'm kind of the opposite to you in that I play handheld waaaaaayy more than on the TV. My PS2 & 3s don't get nearly the love from me that my 3DS does. I like that I can curl up in my bed and play games, rather than have to be stuck in front of the TV. I do like playing on the TV, but I really like handheld. Most of what I like to play is stuff like Animal Crossing, so... don't think that needs a TV to play it. Could be wrong though. ;o)

I like handheld games more because I grew up playing it so I don't mind this, but if I have to choose, I will just go for the switch without having to buy a joy stick and a charger for it.

I read somewhere that supposedly, the switch lite will somehow still have tv capabilities
But idk if that's true or how that would work so im probably wrong
Also though, I'm the opposite of you
I MUCH prefer portable gaming/handheld consoles (And have tiny hands lol), and also have not so much money to spend on, so I don't mind losing some of the cool features of the switch (which I can still experience via some friends who have switches) but still get to play ANIMAL CROSSINGGGG (which is literally all I care about) and also pokemon and smash ultimate and stuff
So for ppl like me it's a nice option :)

Here are my thoughts on your thoughts. First of all I think your thoughts are trully biased, since you don't like portable gaming which makes this video zero objective. The switch lite is not a 2ds like switch it is not even that ugly, actually I think the design is pretty adorable, even tho I agree with you on the colors. Second, to be honest the Original Switch isn't really that portable thus the result of the existence of this new switch lite version. Third, nintendo has always been crazy in love with their portable and they made this pretty clear with the so so portable feature of the original Switch and like it or not this is the direction they are taking, that's why they use adults on their ads, they don't mean this is a childish option but a lighter one, so I think portability will probably be their priority before docking. I can afford the original switch but honestly I've been holding on for a sturdier hardware and I don't really care to buy a TV just for gaming so I'm all for this new portable system.

I like the idea of saving $100 I’ve always been a strictly handheld casual gamer so... but then again the regular switch is about to get a huge battery boost. If they had applied that battery boost to the lite I’d be convinced to get it ASAP.

the most important part of the switch for me is that i have the option to have it docked and when i have to go somewhere but im in the middle of a game, i can just pick it up and go. I cant imagine a world where the switch no longer has that option. i totally understand why you would make a portable only mode and a docked only mode but that's not for me and i don't think it should be for anyone. i feel like that option of the switch to take it or leave it docked allows the switch to match with your lifestyle. If you only play it docked most of the time then it works. and if you live in a place where your always moving the switch will work for that. This makes the system stand out to me. and i like this feature not just for me but for every single other person that likes Nintendo. the switch can be enjoyed by even more walks of life than ever thought possible. It is such a dramatic change and all it has done is give so much good. It hurts to think they would be getting rid of that. the switch is so customize-able it feels every switch is different and unique just like the human race. everything from the joycon colors to night mode and even how you hold your controllers. the switch can be like you. even though i don't play it much (at least til animal crossing comes out)it is for these reasons the switch holds a special place in my heart. I genuinely believe this is a bad turn. sure it can be a great option for certain demographics i don't think this is going to be beneficial in the long run. but it is Nintendo's decision and i will still stick by it, thanks for hearing me out <3

Nintendo is smart the DS family of systems sold 24 million units in Japan alone they are betting the Lite will sell well too in Japan a pro would never sell well there and it won't sell well in the US either with this gen over it wouldn't stand a chance against the PS5 or Xbox Two it is a winning move for Nintendo.

The switch lite sounds perfect for someone like me who loves their switch and plays both handheld and docked, but won’t ever leave the house with it. The lite will be for going out purposes only- while my regular switch will never leave my house.

This is Nintendo taking the handheld-only audience into consideration that are waiting for the next, more powerful handheld option by Nintendo. I am a solid design, handheld kind of guy, and really not a fan of the original hybrid at all, all those extra detachable parts giving me anxiety and features I do not care about, so this neat and pretty little machine that can play home console quality games is really a gift from the Nintendo gods to me, and all I’ve been waiting for since the initial Switch announcement. So yeah, to some of us, THIS IS HUGE! Nintendo cannot sell more than one or two of the original switch systems to each household as it stands, but now, slap some graphics and cool designs to the Lite and y’all be buying and stacking them like hot cakes. In my opinion they need to now build a separate, more powerful home console only device and give us the option to be able to link two devices to share save data and link to the same account to also share downloaded games for the Switch element.

Also consider this. Every game is "compatible" but not really. If the Switch Lite is their only Switch in the household, who is going to buy something like Smash or Mario Party? At least Mario Party is completely useless as it's pretty much impossible to get the full 4 player party experience with a tiny screen, but Smash also, while there technically is single player, the big fun for me is solely playing with a couple friends in the same room, not online (especially since online is god awful with the lag)

                                                                        • Jackosaurus117

                                                                            2. I only have an interest in playing it as a portable

                                                                            • Dusan Todorovic

No docking is a huge problem. The 3DS was not a Wii U portable. It was its own thing with its own games. This is a "console" with a tiny screen. It seems to me like this is for those people who already have the base model or cannot afford a full console. Plus, $200 is too much for this unit. This and Switch pro on the horizon makes the Lite seem a niche item.

Honestly? I Like the Nintendo Switch Lite.

                                                                                Here is my reason. Why?
                                                                                1. Does not play on the TV. Check
                                                                                2. A true hand held gaming device now. Check
                                                                                3. A much lighter Nintendo Switch. Check
                                                                                4. Cheaper then the original. Check
                                                                                5. Who cares if it can't Switch from home/hand held device or docking it. Check
                                                                                6. I don't like to share it with others. Unless? It requires me to share so. Check
                                                                                7. No? Separate joy cons and are now one with the system. Check
                                                                                8. It has a D pad. Check

Not to mention what they did to Pokemon. By? Killing off more then half the Pokemon from the old generation. Now? We are unable to transfer all the Pokemon into the new Gen 8. I want? All the Pokemon not some or half I mean every single one. Yes, I like to start off with new Pokemon every single game. But? I would like to use my old Pokemon team to use them in the new generation. My 2nd thought? Was Nintendo making the Pokemon games from a true hand held gaming console into a home gaming console now. Which shows? Nintendo truly officially killed off the 3DS line. Plus? I don't want to pay DLC or patches. Just to? Be able to transfer my old Pokemon into my new one. When I already own the game and system itself. It should be free and I should also not have to pay for a service. When the past Pokemon games? Never made me pay for it and was always free to transfer my old Pokemon into the new ones.

Again who cares? If this version can no longer switch back into a home gaming console.

That is my thoughts about the Nintendo Switch Lite.

The switch lite is not for people who already have a switch. I think the market is for those who don’t have it. Also, it’s good for those people who love handheld gaming like on the DS. Honestly, if I didn’t have a switch already, I would have gotten the lite version probably. I don’t play with other people, and I use my switch in handheld mode all the time. The lite isn’t inferior. It’s just different. It’s cheaper, and the joycons don’t have to come out, which I would have liked because I never took them out. Plus, as an animal crossing fan, if I was getting a switch just for animal crossing or Pokémon, I’d get this... and I’ve seen a lot of people online say they will do.

In conclusion, it’s different. Not superior or inferior. It’s geared for a different type of gamer. (Also, I LOVE the colors. I would get yellow. And I think a lavender or peach color would also be super cute)

I’ve been holding back on getting a switch because of the price but now they’re releasing switch lite, I think it’s perfect plus, I only want to get a switch for animal crossing new horizons and Pokémon sword.
